Not all first person shooters age badly.
Back in 1998 was the early years for first person shooters on consoles, we had Turok and Goldeneye. Though both were pretty much the same go in a level kill everything and complete objectives. But then Rainbow six was released with it's new innovative approach of planning the mission, every shot and flash bang. With the one shot kills on normal. Rainbow six was not your normal first person shooter and it has remained that way since. With Vegas having a similar mechanic with allowing team members to separate and attack from a different area causing confusion. But what most people don't realize is that the Rainbow six series is a licensed game series based on a book by Tom Clancy. Not characters like Hawx and Splinter cell actually based on a book. A good one too.

Inspired by the reality of counter terrorist operatives across the world, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege invites players to master the art of siege. Intense close quarters confrontations, high lethality, tactics, team play, and tension are at the center of the experience. Experience a new style of assault with the siege gameplay, transforming environments into strongholds and bringing more tactics of approach. Counter terrorist units are trained to handle extreme situations, such as hostage rescue, with surgical precision. Operating in tight formations, they are experts of close quarter combat, demolition, and coordinated assaults.
